TDA win Halsafjord contract

TDA has won another prestigious contract with Statens Vegvesen (The Norwegian Road Administration) for a floating bridge. The new contract is for a Conceptual Design of a floating bridge across the Halsafjord crossing.

The Halsafjord crossing is part of the new E39 along the west coast of Norway. The design of the floating bridge across the Halsafjord is especially challenging since the crossing is wide, deep and exposed to severe environmental loads from wind, waves and current. The width of the crossing is about 2 km and the depth is about 600 meters. The bridge will be a floating suspension bridge with three towers. Two towers are founded on rock and the third tower will be based on a floating TLP-pontoon foundation.

TDA has delivered several similar projects for Statens Vegvesen in the last years for the fjordcrossings of Sognefjorden, Halsafjorden, Boknafjorden and Bjørnafjorden.

The managing Director of TDA, Jan Erik Børja Berg, comments: 'We are extremely happy to win this contract. This opportunity allows us to combine our expertise within Offshore Floating Constructions with our strong competence in Bridge Engineering. This is another confirmation that TDA has a unique expertise in this field'.
